How to Reverse a Wagon in Rdr2

One of the more difficult maneuvers you’ll have to master in Red Dead Redemption 2 is reversing a wagon. It’s not impossible, but it does take some practice. Here are some tips on how to reverse a wagon in RDR2.

First, you’ll need to bring the wagon to a complete stop. Then, put the brake on and put the wagon in reverse gear. To do this, press down on the left stick and pull back on the right trigger at the same time.

This will cause the camera to switch views and show you what’s behind the wagon. Now, slowly release the brake and start backing up. The key here is to go slow and use small movements of the joystick to guide the wagon backwards.

If you make too big of a move, you’ll end up going off course and into something (or someone).

  • Tie a rope around one of the wagon wheels, and secure it to a tree or other sturdy object
  • Untie the horse from its traces, and lead it around to the front of the wagon so that it is facing downhill
  • Hitch the horse back up to its traces, and stand on top of the hill next to the wagon, holding onto the rope attached to wheel for stability
